How Can I Help You?

WHAT DO CHIROPRACTORS TREAT?

Chiropractors treat a range of problems that affect joints, muscles and nerves.

Below is an interactive picture to give you more information about what I can help you with. Click on the headings to find out more information about each condition including some advice and self-help tips.

Not sure whether chiropractic care is right for you?  Give me a ring at Lushington Chiropractic Clinic on 01323 722499 and I’d be more than happy to discuss things with you over the phone (remember to ask for Emma Johnson).

YOUR FIRST VISIT (WHAT TO EXPECT)

Your first appointment is an initial consultation and examination.  You should allow up to an hour for this appointment.  You should plan to arrive 10 minutes before your first appointment to complete a questionnaire and some paperwork with the clinic receptionist.

The aim of your first appointment is to assess your condition and reach a diagnosis.  I will ask you several questions in order to take a thorough history and gain a good understanding of what is going on.  We will then carry out an appropriate postural, neurological, orthopaedical and chiropractic examination in order to get all of the necessary information to make the best possible treatment plan for you.

Most people don’t need x-rays, but I will talk to you about x-rays or other appropriate diagnostic tests if they are needed in your case. Lushington Chiropractic Clinic has its own excellent digital x-ray system, so we can take x-rays right here at the Clinic if these are deemed necessary.

REPORT OF FINDINGS & CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT

After your initial consultation, I will go through my findings, determine a diagnosis and put together a treatment plan for you.

During your report of findings, I will explain the diagnosis and treatment plan to you.  If you are happy to go ahead with treatment, we can get started after everything has been explained to you.  Treatment is tailored to each individual case, which means it is different for everyone.  This means the techniques used will be suitable for you.  These techniques include specific chiropractic adjustments, more gentle joint mobilisations, soft tissue work, stretches, exercises and dry-needling.  The aim of treatment is to reduce your pain, improve function and increase your mobility.

Sometimes, albeit rarely, chiropractic care may not be an appropriate option. If this is the case, I will refer you to another health professional such as your GP.  In this situation, I can write to them outlining the examination that has taken place and reasons for the referral.  I also regularly write to local GPs to keep them up-to-date with treatment I am providing to their registered patients.
